Bonnie and Clyde's Joplin Missouri Hangout

On April 1st 1933, Bonnie and Clyde rented an apartment in Joplin Missouri to hideout and wait for things to “cool down”. While there, they were visited by Clyde’s brother Buck and his wife Blanche.

Bonnie and Clyde’s next brush with the law arose from their generally suspicious—and conspicuous—behavior, not because they had been identified. The group ran loud, alcohol-fueled card games late into the night. Neighbors reported suspicions to the Police.

The lawmen assembled a five-man force in two cars on April 13 to confront what they suspected were bootleggers living in the garage apartment. Though taken by surprise, Clyde was noted for remaining cool under fire. He, Jones, and Buck quickly killed a detective and a constable as they made their escape.

Left behind were all of their personal items and a roll of film, the film that gave us all of the pictures that we have today of Bonnie and Clyde
