Bua Thong Sticky Waterfalls

Tambon Kuet Chang, Thailand

The beautiful waterfalls are a natural wonder that allow people to scale the steep surface with ease.

Outside of Chaing Mai’s old city is a gorgeous natural park that offers stunning views of northern Thailand’s mountainous terrain. However, the view is not the most spectacular feature of the park. The waterfalls in the park are unlike any other waterfall in the world as water cascades down light brown balloon-shaped rocks that have naturally rich calcium deposits that make them—as the name would suggest—extraordinarily sticky! People can climb up the waterfalls barefoot easily and enjoy the views from the top.

The waterfalls are perfect on a hot day and after playing in the waterfalls, there is a place to buy some food in the parking area where visitors can rent mats and enjoy a nice picnic under the trees.

Know Before You Go

The Bua Tong Falls are about an hour and half north of Chaing Mai by scooter or taxi. It is easy to rent a song thaew or red truck for less than 1500 baht round-trip from the city.
