The house got its name from József Budenz, German originated outstanding Finno-Ugrian scholar, the father of Hungarian comparative linguistics. Budenz was living in this house between 1858 and 1860.The building gained its characteristic facade in “copf” style in 1781. Its foundations are medieval, which is also proven by the well from the 18th century that came to light during the renovations. Before its final design the building has been reconstructed and renovated several times. This historic building of Székesfehérvár has been restored by the generous City Council in 1968-69. The exhibition was opened on 19th of May 1969. In the disposal of the exhibition we tried to keep its private collection character, as it has been put into shape by Ervin Ybl.
