Buldan Seka's Ceramic Statues – Berkeley, California - Atlas Obscura

Several dozens remarkable ceramic sculptures can be found in front of Buldan Seka’s Berkeley hill’s home. These colorful and larger than life ceramic statues range in subject, from serpents to kings, birds to demons, and are surrounded by smaller works of ceramic flowers, tiles and pots.

Born in Macedonia and raised in Istanbul, Buldan Seka moved to the US in the early 1960s, where she continued her study of art. She has been a resident artist at the California College of Arts for the past 30 years and studied with the late and well known artist Viola Frey.
