Just inside the left entrance of Uppsala cathedral, an unassuming tombstone is set into the floor. It’s the memorial of Carl Linnaeus, the father of modern biological taxonomy. Linnaeus was a Swedish botanist, zoologist, and physician. He has been credited with crafting the binomial nomenclature system we use to classify the genus and species of an organism. Stop by to pay your respects to one of the greatest minds in scientific history.
