Marietta was the first settlement in the Northwest Territory, founded in 1788. From there European settlers continued their westward migration. Several midwestern states were formed out of the Northwestern Territory. This museum contains several artifacts which document the pioneer way of life from the late 1700s.
Know Before You Go
Take Ohio State Route 7 to Marietta and head toward the Washington Street bridge over the Muskingum River. The museum sits at the east end of the bridge. Interstate 77 also crosses over the city.
