Carbon Canyon Redwood Grove
Brea, California
Redwoods planted in 1975 that are not indigenous to the area surviving the drier Southern climate.
What to see some Redwoods in Southern California? Take a walk through the Carbon Canyon Redwood Grove Trail. These Redwoods are non-indigenous to the area, but we’re planted as seedlings in 1975. They can live up to 2,000 years old and grow to 370 ft (eventually). It was majestic to walk amongst a species that thrived during prehistoric times. Stay on the path to not harm the root system, which reduces soil compaction. Take it in, and enjoy a peaceful view of baby Redwoods while taking a light hike.
Know Before You Go
$5.00 entrance fee to the park (as of 06/2018) on the weekends and $3.00 during the week (non-holidays); then drive to the gravel road and take a short hike to the grove.
