Chitwan National Park is both a Unesco World Heritage site and also a national park in Nepal that is worth visiting. Located in a rich subtropical terrain of the Terai in the Southern part of the country - the country hosts dense, jungles, grassy plains, massive rivers and an abundance of wildlife, birds and other rare animals in the reserve which include the rare Bengal Tigers, Leopards, one horned rhinoceros and the Gharial Crocodile.
Travel to the national park is mostly via bus or private car to the park or a plane ride to the nearest airport at Bharatapur. Granted status as a world heritage site in 1984, the park covers over 932 square meters of the Terai lowlands.
This park is fascinating to explore mostly with a tour group or an eco resort that can arrange all the details of a stay, trekking or safari tour depending on what you want to actively do in the area. There’s so many wildlife to see, but you definitely need to work with an experience guide and tour to show you how to find them easily especially those illusive Bengal tigers that patrol the entire park reserve.
