In 2017, a door appeared in Corey Hill Park as part of a series of renovations to the playground area, the door complete with a star marking the top on one side and a mermaid tail on the other, with a complex dome-like window in the middle and side pieces of the door also having the same teal color as those ornaments.

As for the history of the park itself, the town purchased it through many transactions between 1900 to 1917, with the northern part of the park being bought from a man named Gardner Beals in 1900, with Beals wanting the area “to be kept open for 20 years”. The southern area of the park, or what is now the playground where the door is located, was bought from William Maynard 16 years later. Two further purchases from  Gilbert V. Pennock and Old Colony Tr. Co also formed the northern half of the park.

Know Before You Go

The door is located within the south end of the park, which is also where the playground is located.
