Prehistoric men from around 600 ad used the cave for burying their dead and the remains were on display for years.  The remains now rest at the university. The property Is an archaeological zone with numerous other caves on the property 

The Prewitts had visitors during the ice age as ice age mammals remains have been found around 1100 feet above sea level,  The cave has sediments inside from a glacial stream bed running  through the lower level.

The formation are unique and each is a art form of nature.
