Devil's Pool
Where Cresheim Creek meets the Wissahickon is a deep pool surrounded by rocks that turns into a secret social center every time the sun shines - despite the inherent danger and disruption caused by visitors, a trip to Devil's Pool is an essential part of the Philadelphia summer.
Where Cresheim Creek meets Wissahickon Creek in the Wikssahickon Valley, there’s a small waterfall that’s caused a deep pool, surrounded on two sides by 15 to 20 ft cliffs. Throughout summer, it draws hundreds of people who jump off the cliffs, light up their grills and generally have a good time. While the water might not be that clean and it might get rather busy, it’s a Philly institution and worth making a pilgrimage at least once.
Know Before You Go
There is parking on Valley Green Road and it's a short, uneven walk down Orange Trail until you get to the pool. Throughout the summer it is easy to find, just follow the trail of people in bathing suits, loud splashes and shrieks!
