Peninsula State Park in Wisconsin is a perfect place to visit for outdoor enthusiasts. Its position jutting into Lake Michigan makes it a desirable location for campers, hikers, fishers, and all manner of watercraft users. There are also a variety of lookouts along the peninsula for views of the lake. One such location, Eagle Tower, has provided elevated views for over 100 years. Originally built in 1914 as a fire lookout, the tower quickly became a popular observation deck for visitors to the state park.

The tower was torn down and replaced in 1932 due to safety concerns, and again in 2021. The latest edition of Eagle Tower rises 60 feet above the ground, offering wide views of Lake Michigan and the islands off the coast. There are 95 stairs that climb up to the top. For those who cannot climb stairs, there is also a ramp that climbs gently through the forest to the observation deck. This canopy walk measures some 850 feet long, winding through above and through the trees, and is just as beautiful as the views from the top of the tower.

Know Before You Go

Eagle Tower is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, as these are the regular hours for Peninsula State Park.
