Estação das Docas (Docas station) Belem - Brazil
The Station was the result of a work of restoration of the warehouses of the port of the capital of Pará. Originally there were three English iron sheds, an example of the characteristic architecture of the second half of the nineteenth century.
The outer cranes were manufactured in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century. Already the steam engine in the mid 1800’s, supplied power to the port equipment.
The ruins of Fort St. Peter Nolasco, where an Amphitheater was built, were originally built for the defense of the waterfront in 1665. The space was destroyed after the Cabanagem Movement in 1825 and revitalized for the inauguration of the Station.
