About

The Flinders Street photo booth is 50 years old and cared for by 90-year-old Alan Adler.

In 2018, a $100 million upgrade of Melbourne's busiest railway station that included a reconfiguration of an entrance on Flinders Street, where the photo booth was so famously set up was going to lead to its permanent removal from the station.

After overwhelming support from the public for the booth to stay, the decision was made to keep the booth.

Alan and his famous photo booth have been the subject of numerous news articles over the years. The booth has remained in place at Flinders street railway station near the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth Street.

While the machine may be a nostalgic novelty, it's surprisingly popular with locals and visitors to Melbourne.
