Giacometti Hall
Zürich, Šveits
Probably the most beautiful police station building in the world.
The Zürich Police Station building where Giacometti murals are located
Zürich may well have the world’s most beautiful police building thanks to an intricate and colorful frescoe in the building hall.
When the original orphanage building was transformed to a city police headquarters the architects were faced with a situation that entrance and main hall were lacking light. So Augusto Giacometti was comissioned to redesign this area. Result was a frescore that covers all of the entrance hall ceilings and arches with a bright colorful flower motifs. By looking at it you would never associate this with a sheer policework. I guess it can as well ease some anxiety when going to police in the first place.
