About

A uniquely positioned Venetian glass museum can be found near the approach to Mt. Fuji. Straddled between these volcanic mountains is one of the largest collections of preserved Venetian glass found outside of Europe.

In 1291, the Republic of Venice forced all glass artisans to move to Murano Island, and imposed the death penalty on anyone who bypassed this law. To this day, Murano Island is the center of Venetian glass.

With a large collection of exhibits dating between the 15th and 19th century, this impressive collection of the time period's very best works of craftsmanship have been preserved. The collection was started by European nobles who took their works to Japan. The detailed masterpieces in the collection are certainly the highlight of the museum, but this spot offers more to discover.

Another exhibition features contemporary glass, showcasing modern artists along with information about glassblowing techniques. A workshop can be found along the garden, allowing you to experience the process of blowing sand onto glass, and creating your own piece of art.

Several cafes and restaurants are also on the property, specializing in "Ukai" flavors. There are musical performances by Enzo Di Amario to enjoy during your stay.
