Harmonist Cemetery
Cemetery featuring a two-ton rotating gate and unmarked graves.
The Harmonist Society built this walled cemetery in 1869, which includes a two-ton rotating gate, to enclose the unmarked graves of Harmonists buried here between 1805–1815. The arch over the gate contains biblical quotes in German which have worn away with weather and time. An interpretive sign nearby includes the inscriptions on the arch and their translations from German.
The gate, while heavy, can be moved with a little effort. The gate swings easiest by pushing on the right-hand side.
Know Before You Go
It features a very small parking area; there's a short gravel drive wide enough for one vehicle. The parking area around the cemetery is residential, so there is some on-street parking.
