Junaluska Memorial
The burial site of Cherokee Warrior Junaluska
The final resting place of Junaluska, this site also marks the starting point of the Trail of Tears. Circling the gravestone marker are seven stone markers (one for each of the seven clans of the Cherokee) with a fact from Junaluska’s life inscribed on each of them. In 2015 a bad storm caused a tree to fall and damage the museum that used to be on site, however the Medicinal Trail is still there. You can hike a 20-30 min trail to learn about some of the plants the Cherokees used for food and medicine.
Know Before You Go
The museum is not open to the public at this time as it is being relocated due to damage.
