About

The small town of Aberdeen, Washington, is home to Kurt Cobain Memorial Park, also referred to as Kurt Cobain Landing. The spot is right down the street from where the Nirvana frontman grew up, and it’s directly next to the Young Street Bridge.

Immortalized in the Nirvana song “Something in the Way,” the Young Street Bridge was one of Cobain’s favorite locations to hang out. Fittingly, the song’s lyrics are displayed on a plaque in the park.

The park also features a memorial plaque and graffiti tributes under the bridge. Additionally, visitors will spot a granite headstone with Cobain quotes, the “Kurt’s Air Guitar” stand sculpture, a couple of portraits of the artist, and a large guitar statue in his honor.

Know Before You Go

Kurt Cobain Memorial Park is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood, so please be respectful to the residents during your visit. Street parking is available, and the park is open to the public 24 hours a day.

Nirvana fans may also be interested in exploring a few additional sites around Aberdeen during their visit. An official city welcome sign includes the title to the Nirvana song “Come As You Are,” and there is a large mural downtown dedicated to Nirvana and the bands that influenced their music. Aberdeen also has a Walk of Fame that celebrates noteworthy local residents. Similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Aberdeen Walk of Fame has a star embedded in the sidewalk that says, “Kurt Cobain, Lead Singer, Nirvana.”
