Inside the small, lakeside Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport, army planes, vintage jeeps, and other automotive and airborne memorabilia fill the floors (and ceilings) of the Liberty Aviation Museum. Despite its name, the collection includes more than airplanes. Opened in 2012, the museum unites aviation, automotive, and military memorabilia.
In 2014, they added a boathouse, new main hangar, and a World War II gallery. The collection has since grown to include corvettes and other classic cars, vintage fire trucks, and movie memorabilia, including a baseball uniform from Major League, and props from films like The Maltese Falcon and Titanic. The museum is even home to the Tin Goose Diner, which they call "...a functional museum exhibit" of a bygone era.
This museum isn't just about remembering the past, but bringing these planes into the present. Inside the hangers, visitors can witness the reproduction and restoration of the old planes, some of which are flown for special celebrations and airshows.

The museum's hours vary throughout the year. There is an admission fee of $14 for adults and $8 for children, with various military discounts. The museum & gift shop is open by appointment only between January 1 and March 19, 2025. Starting March 20, 2025, their hours are Thursday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and open by appointment Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday until May 1st, 2025. After May 1st, 2025, they are open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. If you want to fly in, free customer airplane and helicopter parking is available!
