Longstreet Tower – Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - Atlas Obscura

This 75-foot-tall iron lookout tower, named after Confederate General James Longstreet, is one of the only remaining towers in Gettysburg. The observation deck overlooks the Civil War Battlefield, affording a view along the Confederate lines from the southwestern area of the battlefield. Some of the key sites visible from the tower include Little Round Top, the Sherfy Farm and Peach Orchard, the Rose Farm and Rose’s Wheatfield, Alexander Spangler Farm, Warfield Johnson Farm, Biesecker’s Woods, and Eisenhower Farm.

Know Before You Go

There are numerous spaces along Confederate Avenue where visitors can park to view and/or climb the tower.
