About

Luna Girls on Alki is a larger-than-life sculpture inspired by the West Seattle waterfront’s long history as a recreation site. In 1902, the site was such a popular destination that a new electric trolley line was built just to bring visitors across the bay from booming Seattle.

In 1907 an elaborate amusement park called Luna Park was built on the Duwamish tide flats overlooking Elliott Bay. It featured a natatorium with both fresh and saltwater pools.

The Luna Girls On Alki celebrate this history in their period swim attire. In the spirit of Luna Park, they continue to welcome visitors to Alki Beach and the waterfront trail. The view of the city is spectacular from this site and the Luna Girls make for a great photo op. Bring your cameras, this is a sculpture that makes memories. It is happy, fun, sexy, and historical.

If you are up for a good walk, many of the waterfront parks circling the West Seattle peninsula feature art.
