During the summer months, Mars Hill on the eastern side of Maine, near the Canadian border, is the first spot in the United States to see the sunrise. As the sunrise drifts south in the winter, Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. A clearing at the top allows for spectacular views of the sunrise over Canada, just over a mile away. Windmills along the summit ridge provide a constant din of whoosh whoosh whoosh as you watch the sunrise before anybody else in the U.S.
