A short ferry or slightly longer car ride from Aswan lies the ruins of the Monastery of Saint Simeon, also known as the Anba Hatre Monastery.Â
Constructed during the 7th-century, it is one of the oldest and best-preserved examples of a domed oblong church in Egypt. Nearby is the Monastery of St. Hedra, the Aga Khan Mausoleum, and the Tombs of the Nobles. Â
