Murder Kroger
A series of unfortunate events have given this grocery icon an eerie moniker.
The new store as part of the 725 Ponce development.
This quirky charm from the 1980s garnered its nickname from a dark history of untimely deaths occurring nearby. Two fatal shootings took place in the parking lot, followed by the discovery of a corpse. Another fatal shooting occurred inside the Ford Factory Lofts, which shares the same parking lot. All occurring from 1991-2012.Â
Kroger reopened a new store in October of 2019 at the same location in hopes of ridding the nickname. However, it’s not easy to shed such a history. This icon has its own Facebook page, Wikipedia entry, theme song, and float in the Little 5 Points Halloween Festival and Parade.Â
