NASA's Ames Visitor Center
NASA's Ames Research Center is a key facility for many of NASA's missions and projects, which they have both historic artifacts and what they are doing currently on display at the Visitor Center.
A small gem hidden in Mountain View’s backyard. NASA is still alive!It’s free to visit with friendly and passionate volunteer staff. Old and new spacecraft models are on display, as well as part of a super computer, Mercury Redstone 1A (MR-1A) capsule, space suits used on missions, 3D printer for space station use, and augmented goggles.Also! A real 169 pound moon rock brought back by the crew of Apollo 15 from the Moon’s Hadley-Apennine region on display. They have several videos they play on their projection screen, including an amusing video of how life is on a space station, “International Space Station Tour w/ Astronaut Sunni Williams”.
