Painted Rock is a long held tradition on Block Island. Locals and tourists alike come to paint the rock and have been doing so since 1962.
The rock is painted over so many times that even when vandals attempted to get down to the original rock, they were unable to.
It’s always a delight to see what folks have painted the rock with and the fun designs.
Wendy and Eddie were the teens that started this all as a Halloween prank and ended up getting married which just adds more love to this amazing rock on this amazing little island.
Know Before You Go
The rock is just off the side of the road and there’s plenty of places to pull over and see the rock. If you’re going to paint it, make sure to bring plenty of brushes and paint.
