Pézenas is in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. Once a refuge for Jews in the 13th century, Pézenas is has become a bustling small town with a variety of artisans attracting your attention with their colorful merchandise, as well as sit-down eateries to kick back and take in all that is the south of France.

The cobblestone streets are mostly original and are where 17th-century playwright Molière had previously strolled. In the Old Town’s center, an antiquated fountain sits where children play and performers entertain locals and tourists.

Once a wine distillery, La Distillerie de Pézenas now runs as a 4-star hotel, equipped with a pool with a fountain for ultimate relaxation after a long and hot day.

Coupled with antique markets and festivals, Pézenas hosts a wine festival every Friday during the summer months on the main drag, as well as a local farmer’s market on Saturday year round.

Be sure to come to Pézenas in the summer if you want to see the town bustling with life. If you are more the type to wander alone and take in the history, the winter is a better time to visit Pézenas.
