In October of 1958, the City of Rockville, Maryland built a new water treatment facility on the Potomac River to deliver treated water to residents and businesses.
The facility was needed to keep up with the dramatic increase in people living in the area between the construction of the original treatment facility in 1896 and the late 1950s.
