Prenestian Archeological Site
Recently found Roman archeological remains
This archaeological area of via Prenestina was discovered during the summer of 2013, between Prenestina and Tor Tre Teste streets in eastern Rome, in an area previously occupied by a car dealer. During some excavations for the reconstruction of the building, the workers initially brought to light 14 finds, the presence of which was reported to the Local Police. Subsequent research by the Superintendency confirmed the historical value of the discovery. Subsequent excavations in the area have brought to light a part of the ancient Via Prenestina, 6 mausoleums and 144 tombs, the remains of a perfectly preserved necropolis which, according to archaeologists, was built between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD.
