”Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley is no doubt one of the most infamous earworms of all time, especially in the form of the classic bait-and-switch internet meme known as rickrolling.
In the music video, Astley can be seen singing in two locations, one inside a church-like building with restaurant tables, and the other under a bridge. The latter has since been identified as the viaduct in the North Kensington area of London, a short walk away from Latimer Road station.
Notably, the filming location is listed on Google Maps (often removed, but always coming back), once categorized as a “place of worship” and now simply as a tourist attraction. There is no marker or such commemorating this internet-historic site – unless there is some sort of rickrolling waiting to happen – official or not, but it doesn’t keep curious tourists from visiting the birthplace of the most infamous meme in internet history.
