Sacred Aedicule on Tor Sanguigna Square, Rome, Italy
Impressively beautiful sacred art.
Located in a trompe d’oeil window of Palazzo Grossi Gondi on Tor Sanguigna square, this sumptuous eighteenth-century aedicula contains an oil painting depicting the Virgin ascending to heaven among angels and cherubs, against a golden background. Two angels protrude from the base, while a third at the top holds a crown of lights. Above all is a canopy with fringes and ornamental motifs.
