El Salto del Limon Waterfall
An intimidating hike leads to a serene secret waterfall.
Adventurous tourists who are willing to make the hike up the mountain on foot or horseback are rewarded with a picturesque waterfall, a clear lake for swimming, and small caves for exploration. The waterfall is active during the rainy season, but note that the season also makes for muddy conditions on the trail.
To get to your destination, you’ll cross rivers and climb a mountain for nearly three hours. Near the top, you’ll likely also be able to quench your thirst and hunger at a small food outpost.
Know Before You Go
To reach the waterfall, it's best to arrange a horseback tour with a local group. Should you decide to hike it, be sure that you are an experienced hiker and are wearing shoes suitable for mud. The path is not marked, but you should be able to follow the horse trails to your destination.
