About

Appointed by the Texas Department of Public Safety as the official museum of the Texas Rangers in 1968 and sponsored since the same year by the city of Waco, Texas, the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and Museum has been a popular tourist destination for more than 40 years. More than three million people have visited the museum since it opened its doors to the public.

The famed Texas Rangers law enforcement agency is celebrated at this museum, which sits on more than 30 acres in the central Texas town. Originally named Fort Fisher after an early 19th century Ranger camp that sat near this very site, the museum was designed using traditional hill country architecture found in this area of the state.

The Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and Museum has two defined mission statements: To disseminate knowledge and inspire appreciation of the Texas Rangers and to serve as the principal repository for archives and artifacts relating to the Texas Rangers.

The Hall of Fame serves as a memorial to all of the Texas Rangers who have made significant contributions to the development of the service or who died heroically in the line of duty. As such, one of the missions of the Hall of Fame is to keep a dedicated memorial roll of all the Texas Rangers that died in the line of duty between 1823 and 2004.
