Maybe if you are from Albuquerque, you become inured to the fact that doors matter… at least in Old Town. These photos were snagged all within the few square meandering blocks that defines the Old Town neighborhood. Some go to law offices. Some to trinket shops. Some live at the Albuquerque BioPark. Some go no where. Some belong to buildings from the 18th century; some just pretend too. Some hide trash or serve as paddocks for bicycles. No matter their purpose, there’s an ethic of craftsmanship that defines the experience of wandering through Old Town on a sunny day and getting caught up in the play of threshold, shadow and light.
