Tree of Imagination
A unique sculpture made from a dead tree
The Tree of Imagination, created ‘to delight and inspire children and all those who are still young at heart’, is tucked away between the Cheshire towns of Knutsford and Northwich in the quaint village of Lower Peover.
The project was a community funded in 2015 and has resulted in the transformation of a carcass of an old, damaged oak into a magical curiosity.
A roof, which contains bat and owl boxes and nesting boxes for other birds, protects the tree’s interior from water damage and has a canon sitting just below the eaves. The trunk of the tree is adorned with miniature figures and shells. There are several doors around the trunk along with windows allowing visitors to view the interior details including a miniature staircase and a shelf holding a number of tiny books, or through another window, a kitchen complete with a teapot on a table surrounded by chairs.
