The fort was built in the 1930’s when Zadar belonged to Italy.  It was used by the Italian Army during the April war in 1941 and probably by the German Army in the years 1943 - 1944. During the Homeland War in Croatia 1991-1995, it was intensively used by the Croatian Army. Then entrance is at Bokanjac Cemetery right between the graves making it an interesting entry. Inside the original inscriptions can be seen. Bring a light, it is pithc dark and humid inside and smells funny. Also bats and lizards inside, but that’s all part of the experience, enjoy!
