Zendstation Smilde is an iconic radio and television transmission tower near the village of Hoogersmilde in the province of Drenthe, the Netherlands. Volunteers from the Association of Village Interests Hoogersmilde have made a scale model of the tower from PVC.

Built in 1959 for directional radio services and TV and FM-transmissions, Zendstation Smilde is made up of an 80-meter-tall (260 foot) reinforced concrete tower topped by a 223-meter (732 foot) television mast.

The Drents-Friese Wold National Park is a popular area for visitors, with many beautiful cycle paths. On the edge of this national park, on the cycle path along the Bosweg in Hoogersmilde, cyclists heading southeast are treated to an optical phenomenon, where it seems as if there are two identical transmission towers in the landscape. Take a seat and enjoy the view!
