Trip Overview

On this mouthwatering, privately guided gastronomic adventure, join us in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi to explore its astounding culinary heritage and a winemaking tradition tracing back eight millennia. Tucked between the Black and Caspian Seas and in the shadow of Europe’s highest mountains, Georgia is a tiny country rich in local pride. During this trip, you'll have the chance to taste some of the finest wine from one of the most underrated wine regions in the world, along with unique specialties such as delicious khinkali and decadent khachapuri. Spend two days in the stunning Alazani Valley experiencing the deep reverence for winemaking that defines this land.

For a day-by-day itinerary description, either inquire with us directly or visit the group trip page, here. Note that the itinerary's pacing and inclusions may be adjusted depending on the size of your group.

Our partner, Culinary BackstreetsIn order to create and curate this unique experience, we’ve partnered closely with Culinary Backstreets, a global guide to local eats that publishes restaurant reviews and features on local culinary culture. They bring these stories to life on culinary tours and special events, offered in 12 cities around the world, and have extensive international experience with all things gastronomical.

  • Culinary workshops and wine tastings
  • Agriculture trips
  • Market tours and home-cooked meals
  • Local performances and demonstrations
  • Privately guided experience

Itineraries and daily schedules are subject to change. We expect to do everything listed in the itinerary, though the order may be rearranged based on weather or other local conditions.

The trip also includes one night at a boutique hotel in the Alazani Valley, and a pre-arrival night at Betsy's, as most flights arrive very early in the morning. If you're interested in a different level or style of accommodation, we'd be happy to discuss options and price points.

Activity Level

Travelers should feel comfortable walking three to five miles each day and remaining on their feet for long periods of time. While we can tailor the pace and activity level to your group, we'll have fairly active days in store. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on during a couple of cooking workshops.

Trip FAQ

We encourage an adventurous palate! However, if you’d like to avoid meat, the Georgian diet is vegetarian-friendly, so we can almost always supplement a non-meat dish. Avoiding gluten, on the other hand, will be challenging. If you’d like to join but are gluten-intolerant, you’ll need to bring and/or buy a steady stash of snacks to supplement your meals.
