When you join one of our trips, we want you to have peace of mind. In response to COVID-19, we’ve:
Uganda is home to one of geography’s greatest landmarks: the source of the Nile. Despite the critical importance of the river to ancient Egyptian civilization, the location of its source was unknown for centuries, despite the efforts of many to find it. Join us as we journey to the shores of Lake Victoria to see the source of the Nile, and follow the river through the diverse cultural and ecological landscape of modern-day Uganda—from its traditional kingdoms to the rainforests and savanna. Led by an academic and an experienced local guide, we’ll eat local foods (some influenced by the region’s Asian population), admire the beautiful nature reserves and national parks, and discover the heritage of a country made up of 56 tribes—all while getting a sense for what makes Uganda so unique.
The cost of this trip is $4,435, based on double occupancy.
You’re in good company. Solo travelers typically make up about half of our small groups. With curiosity at the center of our experiences, there’s a natural camaraderie that develops over the course of a trip. We have two options for you:
Shared Room: You’ll be matched with another solo traveler of the same gender.
Private Room: Have your own room, subject to availability, for a supplemental cost of $475. When booking, please select the single room package option.
This tour is fairly active; travelers should be reasonably fit and feel comfortable walking three to four miles each day, and remaining on their feet for long periods of time. Several parts of the tour involve some longer walks, including on uneven ground, as well as boat rides.
You should plan to arrive by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 22, and depart after 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, unless extending your stay to join either the three-day safari or gorilla trekking trip. (Email us for additional details.)
Note that all travelers must have a valid passport, valid for six months after your return date. U.S. passport holders require a visa to enter Uganda. You can check here to see if you require a visa. If you do require a visa, you can apply online at https://visas.immigration.go.ug.
