Some US highpointers also seek to climb US county highpoints, the next political geographic division down from a state, as well as cities either independent from or coterminus with their counties. Some of these points have their own entries in the Atlas. Here I will catalog which strictly county highpoints (ones that are not state highpoints also) have entries or have an entry very near them. Truly a world apart from the Lower Peninsula, on this list are the quirky, comedic, strange, and obscure locations of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I came here to drive up soggy logging roads to the top of Mount Arvon and discovered many great places along the way.
