Goetheturm
You can find this incredible playground nestled in the woods at the top of the Sachsenhausen district of Frankfurt. The park was built around the Goetheturm, a 43-meter-high wooden tower named for the poet Goethe who used to go to these woods to write. There is a large forest playground, slides, a maze, and a splash pool for the youngest visitors.
The Goetheturm is recently renovated and open to the public. From the top you can see the Frankfurt skyline and “green belt.” There is a lovely cafe/beer garden at the bottom of the tower near the entrance.
Update October 2017: The Goetheturm has burned down.
