Greater Astoria Historical Society
United States
A fourth floor exhibition space, the Greater Astoria Historical Society presents memorabilia and artifacts cataloguing the ongoing legacy of Western Queens and its neighborhoods, including Astoria and Long Island City.
The group was chartered in 1985 and hosts field trips, walking tours, presentations, and lectures at area schools, the Great Astoria Historical Society, and others locations around New York.
The headquarters might seem a bit dusty, but it’s a unique and quaint look at a history that’s both visible in the streets and erased by progress.
Know Before You Go
The Greater Astoria Historical Society is on the fourth floor, above a funeral parlour and florist on the first floor.
