About

Nestled in the Bois d'Angre, the Caillou-qui-Bique arouses curiosity for several reasons. For starters, this puddingstone is 370 million years old and strangely evocative of a human profile. The surrounding area is dotted with engraved stones bearing the poems of Emile Verhaeren.

According to legend, Satan was enraged at Saint Remacle building the Abbey of Stavelot. To prevent the inauguration, he set out from the Pyrenees with a huge rock on his back, with the aim of throwing it at the church. But on the way, he met a poor man who told him that the road was still long. Discouraged and furious at not being able to arrive in time to spoil the festivities, the devil dropped his stone, which sank into the ground.
