What We’ll Do

On this tour, we’ll walk along part of Newtown Creek, one of the most trafficked waterways in New York City, ending up at a picturesque spot along the East River. This fascinating tour spans 1.5 miles of Greenpoint and Long Island City's waterways and byways. Along the way, expect to see six bridges, a heavily polluted Superfund site, three active rail yards, a highway that carries 32 million vehicle trips a year, and your fair share of the gritty city. Photography enthusiasts, in particular, may find this an interesting trek across an industrial and obscure section of New York City. After the walk, you'll be invited to grab a drink with the group to enjoy watching the sunset on the East River, as it lowers behind the midtown Manhattan skyline.

Where We’ll Be

The tour will begin in historic Greenpoint, Brooklyn, in the shadows of Newtown Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and the infamous Digester Eggs. We'll make our way from Brooklyn into Queens across the Greenpoint Avenue drawbridge, ending at Hunters Point Park at LIC Landing on the East River to watch the sun set behind an amazing view of the midtown Manhattan skyline.
