Marvel at These Frank Lloyd Wright Deep Cuts

A UFO church, a futurist gas station, and other obscure gems.

Exactly 150 years after Frank Lloyd Wright’s birth on June 8, 1867, there are nearly 300 structures built by the prolific American architect still standing today, sprinkled all across the U.S. as well as a handful of locations overseas.

Many of these homes and buildings are iconic, known for their creative use of natural material and space, a Wright trademark. But the architect’s genius also springs up in unexpected designs, like the gas station in Minnesota sporting an observation deck, or a Greek Orthodox church that looks more like a spaceship. Here are eight stops on a Frank Lloyd Wright superfan’s cross-country road trip.
