This authentic Tibetan Temple is a wonderful surprise that is easy to find just off the beaten path (Highway 299) in the hills of Northern California.

If you are interested in Tibetan Buddhism you will definitely like this place and if you just want to experience Tibetan culture it is worth the visit. This may be as close to the feel of Tibet as you’ll ever get without actually going there.

Chagdud Gonpa is an international Nyingma Buddhist organization, founded in 1983 by H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche (1930-2002), a highly revered meditation master, artist and Tibetan physician who taught extensively in the East and West. Its activities include offering public teachings and retreats, translating, and publishing texts.
