If you’re driving down Andrew Jackson Highway in the middle of nowhere Bolton, North Carolina, you can’t miss 10 acres covered in larger-than-life fiberglass flamingos, polar bears, horses, Paul Bunyan and so much more.

This outdoor art gallery is the work of Hubert Graham, who has been creating and restoring fiberglass figures like these for nearly 20 years. In the 90s, he had started a side business making and selling miniature wooden lighthouses. When he went looking for something that could better withstand harsh weather conditions, he found fiberglass. He bought molds and eventually learned how to make his own.

“Everybody has a dream to do things, but a lot of people don’t have the ability to actually create it with their hands and with their own mind,” Graham told Roadtrippers in 2019. “Whatever comes to my mind comes to my hands and I create it.”

Grahamland isn’t just a sculpture garden—most of the figures are for sale and can be rented out for parties and corporate events. For years, Graham has hoped to turn this roadside attraction into a homemade amusement park, complete with miniature golf.
