Wendover, Utah

Lucin

This former rail stop in Utah was abandoned, only to be repopulated by a group of friends who had lived in the town in their youth.

Lucin is an abandoned railroad community on the western side of the Great Salt Lake, which was founded in the late 19th century about 10 miles north of its current location, then moved in 1903 to serve as a stop for the Lucin Cutoff.

Abandoned in 1936, Lucin was later resettled by a group of retired railroad workers, who were friends with fond memories of their time there. The last retiree moved away over a decade ago, and the area is now managed for migrating songbirds and other wildlife by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
