About

Located across the street from the Palacio de Cortés is a free museum that includes sketches, paintings, and sculptures by Frida Kahlo, Juan O'Gorman, Manuel González Serrano, and many other notable Mexican artists. The museum was once a house belonging to Mexican actor, comedian, and filmmaker Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes (known as Cantinflas).

Outside, in what was once the home's pool, is an underwater mosaic by Diego Rivera featuring the pre-Columbian goddess Gaia. Rivera also has done an aquatic mural, but it has been extracted from the water to preserve its colors. Today, visitors can eat lunch by the pool and gaze down at Rivera's submerged work.
